Monarch at Medlands

There are many swan plants on the property here at Medlands Beach,  and the monarch butterflies are coming in large numbers to lay their eggs. There are a few caterpillars now, munching their way towards forming chrysalises. So beautiful!

It was my youngest grandson's 9th birthday today - such a fun day :)  My son made an obstacle course for T and his friends, and there were many shrieks and yells as they egged each other on. We all went up to the far end of the beach later on, for my granddaughter's surf lesson, only to find everyone simply standing and looking out to sea - a bronze whaler had been seen out in the waves, so surfing was off for the afternoon!
