Summer Hills

After an early morning start and a cautious session at the gym I drove up the Taylor Pass Road to the south of the Taylor Dam. From this viewpoint the road winds up the valley and up and over the Taylor Pass into the neighboring Awatere Valley. The road is sealed for a few more kilometers and is then shingled and rough in places. There are a few "life-style" properties up the valley. There is even a Honey Factory there kilometers away from town. The drought is biting and the hills have taken on their usual bleached golden mantles.
