Misty morn

We woke up to a watery light filtering through the curtains, a hint of sun!!!

We had already decided last night that as long as it was dry, we would "get out" for a few hours today........good decision.

After breakfast we donned our walking shoes and drove the 25 miles or so to take us deep into Lancashire. We parked in our usual carpark and chatted to a local chap who was pushing a flexible pipe down one of the grids trying to clear a passage. He told us that the area was under two feet of water after the Boxing Day floods!

We asked him about walking along the canal, as the tow path lies quite low, but he assured us it was clear.......so off we went.

As you can see from this shot (put a black border around it for impact...it looks great against the black background if you'd care to go large) it was a lovely morning, bright but misty, quite chilly and very dewy! The towpath became very boggy once we ventured beyond where it has been gravelled, but we weren't deterred.......I did do a couple of "Bambi on ice" impressions, but managed to stay upright thankfully!!!

The birds were out in abundance, lots of singing, saw a kestrel, some swans, ducks, robins etc. etc.

We were out for a couple of hours, before we headed back to Tastebuds cafe for lunch. Lancashire Rarebit for me, hub had steak pie!

A very enjoyable few hours......even our walking shoes weren't too muddy considering :-)

Nice to get out........feels as though it's been a while! ;-)
