FLOOD - ROAD CLOSED

The fifth consecutive day of rain, and there's a lot of flooding around Wooler and several roads closed, including most of the road bridges. This is Weetwood Bridge.

The River Till had burst its banks near Doddington, and I drove through the very deep flood water on the road on the way to work this morning. There were half a dozen cars behind me at the time, but on the road after Doddington only two were following. No idea whether the others had turned round or, maybe, got stuck in the water!

Feeling rather anxious about the drive back to Wooler when MrM rang to report that the Doddington Bridge and a couple of others had closed during the morning due to flooding. So it was agreed (with my lovely office manager) that I should leave at lunchtime. Drove back the long way round on the A road, but even short stretches of that were under water. More heavy rain forecast for tonight and all day tomorrow...

Fortunately, there seem to be few, if any, properties under water in this area, though houses and businesses have been hit further south in Northumberland. Awful.
