Serendipity*

There was an article in the New York Times entitled Serendipity  about 'accidental' discoveries…big ideas emerging from spills, crashes, ideas that evolved from an unrelated project. Some people were labeled "super encounterers"…they love to look, even delve, for something interesting wherever they are. They not only enjoy gathering random, seemlingly unrelated facts because they are interesting,  but they have the ability to find patterns and relationships between them which often result in new discoveries.

This fits in well with my new year's thoughts…I'll not call them resolutions…  to think outside the box more, but to try to make more connections between the resulting random thoughts. My friend who is a statistician would say that I am using an erroneous definition of "random"….maybe he's  just a "non-encounterer".

II think a lot of these "super encounterers" would make good Blippers. If you know one, see if you can get them to give it a try…
