Cold

The cold weather has arrived. There is snow on our hills, although so far only sleet at sea level. We were out quite early this afternoon, promised ourselves a short bash along the old road at Benmore and back for a cuppa. But it didn't quite work out that way.

We could see a confusion of dogs and as we parked at the Puck's Glen carpark, and though we lingered to avoid joining the pack they didn't seem to be going anywhere. A man, the owner of a brown and while collie with one blue eye and one yellowish one, had been drying the dog and had managed to lock his keys and his phone in his car. He lived in Fairlie; the woman who was trying to help him was from Bute. As the only natives present, we ended up participating in a relay of phone calls to a friend (to get the number of our garage); the garage (who gave us the Honda breakdown number which was locked in the car on the man's phone); Honda (who spent an age trying to ascertain the address of the place we were parked - were they perchance overseas?) and finally the garage again. By this time, miraculously, they had been contacted by Honda and were about to come to the rescue. It had all taken half an hour.

So this is yet another late afternoon photo of a gloomy Glen Massan entrance with the snow-powdered hills almost merging with the sky.

The good news is that when we returned to our car 40 minutes later, man, bi-coloured eyes dog and car had all gone.

I think I'm going to have to invest in Blipfoto. I'd miss the community badly.
