Flood Warning for our area for the last two days

Indeed we have and we do have some small scale flooding of low lying fields around the city,
Hull is very low lying being mainly below the High tide level of a Spring tide.
it has very good defences with the tidal barrier and a massive earth embankment running many miles from the city to the coast, so it is well protected from sudden storms or tidal searches, but still vulnerable to rising water levels in the local rivers and watercourses after prolonged rain.
It even has a system of floodable areas that can be opened up to the rising waters (provided of course they haven't already flooded) and there are excellent reports available on the net as here
live Flood warnings
That is of course if you are aware they are available, yet hardly anyone in the city I have spoken to is even aware that there is an alert in operation.
Looking at the information there only seems to be one point at the danger level at the moment
Burstwick Drain possible flooding
Still no word of this in the city so far, so we will have to wait and see what happens!
By the way this map shows just how big an area could be affected!

Food for thought isn't it?
