The Eleven Executioners
Early German Kabarett* is a bit bizarre. Actually I could qualify that further and say that most German Kabarett is bizarre. It can be a very dark art - political satire and very black humour.
This is the poster from what's supposed to be the very first political Kabarett from 1902. The woman depicted at the front is called Marya Delvard and she used to stand under a single spotlight and sing. I can't find out very much about her and what I can find out is all in German.
Why this theme for a Blip? Well we're heading into a bit of a nightmare weekend here on Blip. Has enough been done to rescue the site or do we have an executioner waiting in the wings?
*Nothing like British Cabaret, no scampi in a basket and something a bit blue fer dads
