Wassail!

A double win tonight, going to see a wassail, and at Westons Cider factory orchard, only a few miles from home.
The Silurian Border Morris were a marvellous sight performing the ages old 'ceremony' with great fun and gusto. Dozens of flaming torches were handed out to us spectators, making for a spectacular walk to the orchard where the wassail took place, giving thanks to the spirits for a good apple harvest past and future.
These old English traditions, going back to pagan times, are a great way to mark the passing year, and having fun on a dark, cold, winter evening. The cider was very tasty too...
