Pea Pyramid

Today, like all day, has been all about the annual pea harvest, Phew!!

We are very lucky, our neighbours grow peas for seed and tell us to go pick. They have come in (ripened) very quickly due to our extremely dry summer.  We picked five buckets early this morning, then sat outside and set to the task of podding them (with Johnny Cash cranking out as company).  This afternoon we have blanched, cooled them quickly and bagged them for freezing.  Just enough in each bag for a meal for two.

We managed to watch the T20 against Sri Lanka - very exciting with two NZ batting records.....the first only lasting 20 minutes.  Colin Munro hit 50 runs of 14 balls, also he is now second on the World fasted 50 runs. Brilliant to watch.

And what did we have for tea tonight......definitely not peas.
