THE FIRST BATCH... promised -  after seeing Mouse off at the Gare du Midi, I got stuck into marmalade production. It takes a long time, but it's strangely therapeutic. You need to keep your wits quite sharp during the final boiling because if the bottom starts to catch when you come back to give it a stir it'll leap up & spray everything with molten syrup!!

The best bit is when you've got it snug in its jars & after an hour or two the lids start to click as the vacuum does its thing!

Noticed a rather fascinating pattern which had appeared on the (extra) saucepan lid I used to cover last night's chicken.
