marigolds are one of those very hearty flowers... you see them around all summer long... everywhere you go - i was never really a fan of them - although they do have a pretty color - however, the scent can be quite potent...

a couple of fun facts regarding the marigold -

-originates of the sunflower family
-there are some 56 species... possibly more as new ones are created annually
- bright petals of signet marigolds add color... as well as a spicy tang to salads
-for years, farmers have included the open-pollinated african marigold 'crackerjack' in chicken feed - to make egg yolks a darker yellow
-extremely effective herb for the treatment of skin problems... can be used wherever there is inflammation of the skin...
