the old and the new...

...together

i was struck by the aging of this incredible pink tiger lily - one, i've never seen a pink tiger lily before... pink is a favorite color of mine. and two, the delicate manner in which it is aging - the petals are not decaying in a harsh fashion but taking their time... getting wrinkles and age spots - the same thing that happens to us humans, right? well, unless we've indulged in artifical means of youth enhancement...boo!

then there's the elegant new buds... they've come alongside - strong and sure, almost appearing to be taking grace and knowledge from the elder - as the one ends its life and the other is born into its own.

isn't that how it should be with us, too? we should honor our elderly generation - garnering strength, knowledge, wisdom of their ages from them... we and our youth gaining as much as we can before they leave us, so we can carry on into the future? then pass on the same to the next generation... and so on... and so on... so it's not lost? for this is how we will survive - merging new technologies and advanced wisdoms with everything that has come before us - lest we forget.

so let's encourage the bringing together of old and new, and make it a
