Dearly Beloved

I finished this painting today.  I've finished all the reworking of old paintings. This was the last of those. Now it is time to begin working on new paintings that fit in the same theme of "Play of Light" that I've been working on. I am really enjoying this series.

As usual we had a great time in open studio. There were six of us painting. The work was amazing. I love the work of all the gals I paint with. Each of us does very different work which is a testament to Trish's teaching style. She encourages us to each develop our own style. And it is great to see how fine they all are.

We also started to pull together our New Year's resolutions for 2016. Mine is to create work that is even more personal and expressive. We answered some questions to help us think about what we wanted to accomplish. We also found a painting we had not seen before that we loved to be our inspiration during the year. I chose a painting by a Canadian born painter who now lives in London. Her name is Liza Hirsh and she has been doing small daily paintings, several of which are interior scenes quite similar to the ones I've been doing. I chose one of those. I want to do some small paintings and some large in the same series I've been working on. Makes me happy to think of sitting in a room painting a small painting from the actual scene instead of from a photo. These might be the inspiration for some of the larger works.

Note: I decided to call the painting "Dearly Beloved" as I had originally.
