Snow coming ...

This morning was glorious. The sky was an uninterrupted blue, there was little wind. And where was I? Indoors, being domestic. Waiting for the gardener to call, making soup for lunch - that kind of thing. Mr PB was painting a door. We'd go out in the afternoon - surely it would stay fine?

And so it was that we collected a couple of friends, headed south to walk in the afternoon sun without any hills getting in the way. This is what awaited us. Over the green field, past the sheep and the farm and the little wind turbine, heading inexorably down Loch Striven: snow. It didn't actually arrive on us until we'd almost reached said Loch Striven, but when it did it was wet and cold and thorough. So I've appended an extra photo for today, taken as the snow drove round us on a keen wind. It shows the half-frozen pond at Knockdow, a view I've often taken in sunlight. You can see the falling snow against the dark trees in the background.

Interestingly, there was no sign of snow when we got back to Dunoon a couple of hours later.
