I had to travel south today but unfortunately due to flood damage to a bridge there are no trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow and Carlisle so buses are laid on as the the railway line will be out of use for several weeks. While waiting for my connection I had a short wander around the Citadel towers in front of the station. These are only about 200 years old but originally the English Gate was there as part of the defensive wall against the Scots. The start of the journey had been in snow but before long the landscape became green but now the view out of the my window is very pretty and white as the snow has settled. No doubt the local children will be glad that tomorrow is not a school day.
