An ordinary life....

Snowy Glendevon...

Up early (for a Sunday!) as Peter and I were going to an RPS Advisory Day in Bridge of Allan.   Just had time to make a packed lunch and we were off.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect but really enjoyed the day.  Fascinating seeing other photographer's photos as they aim to achieve an RPS Distinction and hear the judge's comments.

One young girl was there with a panel of photos that she hoped to eventually submit to the RPS in the Licentiate category.   She didn't think her images were ready but members of her camera club persuaded her to come to the Advisory Day to get feedback and guidance.

As soon as her images were on the viewing board it was clear to see how absolutely fantastic they were and the RPS panel of advisors were clearly excited.  They huddled together whispering and when they finally gave their feedback it was to say she should skip the Licentiate and submit them straight into the Associate category.   How fantastic is that?!

The rest of the day whizzed past and was due to finish at 4pm but it had been lightly snowing and at about 1/4 to 4 it began piling down as I suggested to Peter that we slip away and head back up the road to mine before it got any worse.  Once we were out the hall we realised the snow was even heavier than we'd realised so I insisted that rather than take me back home, Peter head off home and David would come and pick me up.  Felt bad as this meant Peter was missing out on dinner at ours, but it seemed madness for him to take me North into the blizzard then have to double back and pass back down where we'd been..

By the time David came to pick me up the snow was getting heavier and the A9 was slow going.  Got home safely though and was hardly in the house 5 minutes before conking out on the sofa.  Clearly using my brain all day was too much for me!  :-))

Got a lovely surprise when another  blip pal who I haven't met before got in touch to say she and her husband (also a blip pal)  had come all the way up to Scotland from down south for a wedding and would it be possible to meet up for a little while tomorrow.

After working out the logistics we are hoping they can come to ours for a little while tomorrow morning (next time hopefully longer but they're on a tight schedule and fly back to London tomorrow)  but of course the damn snow might make the journey difficult so we've agreed to make a final decision tomorrow morning when hopefully the snow will be subsiding.
