Benson Bubbler

Good news! Hooray Success

We went downtown today, only a few minutes away, and stopped at the Apple Store to get a lightning SD Card Camera Reader, to upload big boy Nikon photos to the iPhone and iPad. This facilitates blip transfer situations for various circumstances.

The main blip is of a Benson Bubbler. These are iconic bronze drinking fountains named after businessman and philanthropist Simon Benson (1852–1942), mostly located in Portland, Oregon. In 1912, Benson donated $10,000 for the purchase and installation of 20 fountains.
Two reasons have been suggested for his decision to donate the fountains; one was his hope that they would reduce the consumption of alcoholic beverages during lunch breaks, and the other was that he felt the need after witnessing a girl crying at an Independence Day parade due to her inability to find a drink of water. In the 1970s, the Benson family requested that the bubblers only be installed within specific boundaries of Downtown Portland "so as not to diminish the uniqueness of them". There are 80 bubblers, including 50 quads, 29 singles and 1 triple in downtown currently.

We walked a bit in the rain, a real staple this time of year and it was nicely mild. Since I am not posting daily I included the classy Apple Store and a sidewalk cleaning device.

The cord works great.
