'Did the pipes...

...play the Flowers of the Forest'.

When I see a Scottish piper I think of the lone piper on the battlements of Edinburgh Castle in the final moments of the Military Tattoo and the words in the chorus of Eric Bogle's 'The Green Fields of France'
.green fields of france

This too is Eric and a surprising encounter after he had played the pipes at a 90th birthday celebration and as blip has taught me....don't be shy!!, ask for a photo.
Thank you Eric for being so gracious and telling your story with pipes in arms.
He is a member of the Kalamunda District Pipe Band and the British Club Pipe Band of Bangkok (formerly the wonderfully named Bangkok Thistle Pipe Band).
Remembering ANZAC Day in the hills with the Kalamunda Band, Eric and the British Club Pipe Band pipe at the annual dawn service at HellFire Pass, the location near Kanchanaburi and the Bridge over the River Kwai, of the Thailand Burma Railway and with a very powerful and tragic Australian connection.

During our conversations ranging across Thailand, SIngapore and Gurkha regiments,  my family history in Penang and drifting on to Pipe Bands in general, Eric told me about the St George's Girls' School Pipe Band from Penang that visited Australia recently to do their thing!!

So much for six degrees of separation.
In Australia's West there are about three...max!!!
