nectarines...

...fresh from the orchard and what a treat to find a hand sorter and grading machine in a big, corrugated iron shed.
The slowly turning drums contain nectarines of different sizes, the smallest furthest to the left and grading upwards in size to the right.
Each nectarine is hand picked and boxed (extra).

The dodgy ones are picked out of each drum and sold in the shed for poaching, stewing and jamming at $1.oo/kg and there are boxes of delicious slurping ready nectarines and peaches for $2.oo/kg.

No air miles on these beauties but very labour intensive.
