It's Grim Up North

Friend's Meeting House, Lancaster

Lancaster U3A holds most of its classes in The Friends Meeting House.
It has the calmest and quietest atmosphere.
Probably built in the 1920's or 30's it has that faint institutional smell of bleach used to keep black mould at bay.
Lancaster holds a key position in the history of Quakerism.

The headmaster of the school I attended was a Quaker. His calmness was very influential.
