High above the Rhone Valley

It is rare that the valley is as clear as this. You can see the River Rhone snaking towards Lake Geneva and, above the cloud layer in the distance, the Jura mountains are visible. We were on our way up the Valerette on the side of the Dents du Midi. Even though so many people had skied this mountain before us, Hugh found plenty of powder snow on the way down.

There is, nevertheless, very little snow cover in the grand scheme of things, so we are going out as often as possible is case another warm spell arrives. After yesterday's off piste ski (thanks for putting it on the first popular page, by the way) our skis have a few new "grooves" due to hidden rocks just below the snow surface.

Have a great weekend, knowing that Blip is going to be there in the future!
