The road to Masai Mara

Today we travelled from our base at Lake Elementaita down to the Masai Mara game reserve. The second half of the journey was over a dust road which was in atrocious condition. Unfortunately we had a breakdown when our vehicle's suspension broke. We had to stand by the roadside for what was eventually three hours. This blip is a view along the road as the evening encroaches. We finally made it to our tented camp in the dark. The tents were all spread out along a river in the bush where animals were free to roam. At night we had to be escorted to and from our tents to the communal area by Masai warriors armed with spears and clubs !
