Wetherby Town Hall

I popped to the bank and supermarket in Wetherby this morning and stopped to grab a shot of the Town Hall.

You can see from the clock it was around 10:30 - but it was so dark the lights in the building and offices behind were shining quite brightly.

The building dates from 1845 - when it replaced the old one on the same site. The old one served as court and town gaol, with the town stocks outside. The new one has also served as gaol and court until a new magistrates court was built next to the police station in the 1960s.

The town council still retains an office in the building and the rooms are now let out for events. A regular antique fair takes place there.

The market on a Thursday is set up around the outside of the building.

A blustery walk this afternoon and only one brief shower of rain. Tomorrow looks like it could be rather wet!
