Tiny Tuesday: 1860

This is a gold French 5 Franc piece dating from 1860.  Its not a big coin by any means (it is smaller than a UK penny), and definitely qualifies for Tiny Tuesday.  Its been around a bit, as you can see.

When this coin was minted in France it was the Second Empire and Napoleon III was on the throne.  In April that year, the first ever sound recording of a song was made: "Au claire de la lune".  In the USA Abraham Lincoln was elected 16th President.  While in Britain, Queen Victoria is on the throne and that year Charles Dickens published "Great Expectations".

This is hopefully rather easier on the eye than yesterday's self portrait.  Its definitely not the most technical photo I've ever taken and I probably ought to have worked harder to make it more interesting, but after faffing around for ages yesterday its nice to take a quicker blip for a change.  Thank you to everyone who liked yesterday's shot and took the time to say so.  I promise not to do another self portrait for a little while!
