A spectacle

Today was one of our regular visits to Northampton, and on the way we stopped to take a look at one of the Boughton follies.

This gothic arch set between twin towers is called The Spectacle and is just one of several follies built at Boughton in the 18th century by William Wentworth, 2nd Earl of Strafford.

The building in the background is Holly Lodge which is not strictly a folly but a house made to mimic the follies.

The other follies will most likely feature in my future blips.
