Above the Pohuehue Waterfall

Took the Tsukens and Mr H and Young L to the Moir's Hill Walkway for a short and relatively easy walk into the native bush of the Pohuehue Scenic Reserve. The aim of the short walk was to get the children into the bush and enjoying being amongst the trees and hearing the birds.

The Pohuehue Waterfall (see the extra for today) is at the end of a short track from the roadside carpark. Previously domesticated chickens live in the area around the carpark, having become feral. The track is well formed and well maintained. We didn't hurry, and it took us more like 25 minutes to reach the viewing platform above the waterfall, than the 15 minutes indicated on the sign.

My photo shows Mrs T, Tsuken, Missy, Mr H, Master 8 and Young L.

It took less time back to the carpark. From there we went to the local Honey Centre, before heading back to the beachhouse for a late lunch. Pottered basically for the rest of the day, until we enjoyed a great meal prepared by S.

Young L had advised her to use the plums given us yesterday by S' cousin's wife, to make a Plum Clafoutis. He also gave her support and advice in the making of it. He enjoyed his share and after politely waiting for the adults to have a second helping he quietly accepted a second himself, the only child to do so.

End of a great family day, which also included visits from a couple of S' cousins in the cool of the evening.
