Beyond the harbour

This morning we headed North East, through high winds, and arrived in Newcastle, where it was still wild, for a talk by Max Adams about the Vikings. This was excellent. It is quite a privilege to be in the company of someone whose breadth and depth of knowledge is breath-taking, whose enthusiasm is inspiring and who can mesmerise with his words.

Then we headed further North and arrived at Craster. This is where we are staying for the week. Right by the sea, just along from the harbour. A lovely cosy, yet spacious, house with fabulous sea views. A few steps to the famous smokery – lots of fish and kippers methinks.

This was the view this afternoon across the harbour – Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance. (Very little light, but had to be the blip today!)
