"Here's richness!"

An empty bird feeder in a bare-branched tree....

"Here's richness"

from "Nicholas Nickleby" (Chapter 5)

- said by the detestable and cruel Mr Squeers upon producing for his starved schoolboys the most meagre meal possible:- one short sup of watered down milk, and one snatched bite of bread and butter.

EXTRA PHOTO: 8.30 am: we got a nacreous cloud this morning, rather like experiencing vision problems just before you faint, you're not sure what you are seeing. It was both subtle and astounding, unlike my photo of it which is just subtle, but essentially what I saw. It looked as if someone had taken a large paintbrush to the edge of the clouds and painted a long rainbow in mother-of-pearl pinks and greens.

(The small white stripe is a plane passing by, and the moon (uncapturable by this lens) was just to the right, making a very beautiful scene to behold with the naked eye.)
