Chinese New Year....

We were in Manchester this afternoon to watch the Chinese New Year celebrations. The actual day is tomorrow but the main day for Manchester's celebrations is today. We got a good spot on Princess Street, on the route that the dragons dance from Albert Square to China Town. We got there a bit early to stake a claim to a good spot on the pavement. We got talking to a guy from London who had brought his little daughter up to see the fun. He hadn't been to the city in a while and was amazed at the transformation that had happened.

There are two dragons in the procession. There is the main multicoloured one and there is this one, the golden dragon. Golden dragons are considered, by the Chinese, to be especially lucky. He looked right at me so I'm hoping for a good Year of the Monkey.

The extra picture is the Imperial Arch in the heart of China Town, Manchester
