Davaar Island

It was down to Campbeltown today to get a few things at the shops before an early lunch at Cafe Bluebell, where the rolls and bacon and coffee are always excellent.

Afterwards, Mrs B headed to Tesco while I did a quick couple of errands before heading off towards Davaar Island in search of a blip. I think the best that can be said about the conditions is that it was dry and reasonably bright. However, the light wasn't great and there were few sea birds about waiting to be blipped. Eventually I settled on a shot of Davaar Island, which guards the mouth of Campbeltown Loch and can be accessed at low tide by a shingle causeway.

It makes a great walk on a good day as long as you time the tides right. You have to set off when the causeway is exposed, which gives you time to climb to the top of the island and explore some of its caves, including one containing a famous painting of the crucifixion.
