Buddleia and an old wall

The buddleia bush growing side by side with an old wall in a split second took me back to my childhood in Weymouth and the bombsites there. Walking to the local shops we children used to cut the corner by skipping through the ruins of several houses, buddleia flourished amongst the chimney stacks and demolished walls as did wallflowers and red admiral butterflies. I tried to find out whether this part of Yeovil had been bombed in the ten raids it suffered but most of them were further out in the suburbs, Westland Aircraft being the target. In the event the factory only got hit twice, but 68 properties were destroyed and 2377 damaged. Today the town has more than doubled in size and Augusta Westland is flourishing.
