Windermere from Ferry Nab

Another typical Lakeland day. Lots of rain and very little sunshine. It was a leisurely morning; we eventually went to Ambleside where we enjoyed a coffee but no scone (not ready yet, we made do with a teacake instead)

Spent quite a while (and quite a bit of money) in Gaynor's outdoor store where I bought some more waterproof trousers (essential), a shirt and a new walking pole.

We had a late lunch back at the cottage, then set off to walk to the Windermere ferry at Ferry Nab to take us across to the west shore where we walked north for an hour, in the rain through the woods and beside the lake before retracing our steps back to the ferry and back home.

This shot was taken at Ferry Nab into a hint of sunshine, but giving an impression of cold hard light. That was the last we saw of the sun today.

A good meal, a glass of wine and an evening warming beside the fire rounded off the day.
