receded

I forgot to check what sort of plant these voodoo-looking things were covering but we'll have to get some for the front garden so that little eyes and sewn-up skellington-style mouths can be added for the amusement of the wingpiglet and (hopefully) the disapproval of elderly passers-by.

The route to the Botanics was nowhere near as soggy as it must have been yesterday but there were still sufficient puddles (mostly without streamers of flood-deposited bogroll decorating them) and diggers (the only apparent benefit of the flood 'prevention' works) to tempt the wingpiglet onto his feet. It took about forty minutes longer than was strictly necessary to get some lunch once we reached Canonmills (at the somewhat underwhelming and understaffed Earthy) but he was generally quite well-behaved and bouncy, spending at least twenty minutes scuttling around the same puddle outside the glasshouses before finally going for a two-hour sleep.
