Recycled furniture

Well, recycled door, to be precise! MrM saw it in the local 'antique' shop - he's cut away the rest of the door, and this panel will hang on the wall in the hallway. Needs a bit of cleaning up first, though!

MrM and I went to see Muse - a one-woman play play with live jazz - at the Cheviot Centre this evening. It was part of the excellent 'Highlights Rural Touring Scheme'. I should probably mention that the woman was very ably assisted by a man, who played the piano throughout and also managed to work the stage lighting!

It was an interesting performance about the life of Jean Ross, who roomed in the same house as Christopher Isherwood in 1930's Berlin, and on whom he based the character Sally Bowles. Sally Bowles appeared in two works of fiction by Isherwood (the first published in 1937), and subsequently in a stage play and film, both called I am a Camera (in the 1950s). She's probably best known in the musical Cabaret (1966) and the film version (1972) of the musical. Must really try and watch the film again!
