Cirencester: A Touch of the Grotesque

A brief stop on our journey 'Down South' for coffee and cake and a spot of nostalgia, in the historic town of Cirencester in Gloucestershire, where I moved with my family in the summer of 1977,  and to which I returned in various university vacations until my parents moved to Exeter some time in 1985.

Today's bright sunshine lit up the grotesque carved figures (not gargoyles exactly) on the magnificent porch of the Church of St John the Baptist on the edge of the town's Market Place. (Today's extras show a slightly wider view of the porch - including a pigeon posing on top of the carvings! - plus a man and a cat from the other side of the porch).
