Squirrel Shenanigans

Ms. Douglas Squirrel, now known here as Doreen, entertained us for nearly an hour this morning with her attempts to gain control over the tabletop supposedly squirrel-proof suet/seed feeder.

She began with a long period of meditation on the deck railing, not moving at all, just pondering the possibilities. After a quick snack from the suet/seed feeder on top of the supposedly squirrel-proof pole, Doreen took a look at her project from several angles, including this vertical stance, and once again spent considerable time trying to gnaw through the heavy wire tabletop feeder. When that was unsuccessful, she tried to pull it across the table (see extras -- out of order, not sure why).

After quickly figuring out that the feeder couldn't be moved (thanks to Phil anchoring it), Doreen wasted no more energy and took the path of least resistance -- although it didn't look like that at first, as you'll see in the extras -- and ensconced herself comfortably inside the feeder, food at hand paw, with a roof over her head to keep off the rain.

We continue to be enchanted by this little squirrel!
