Helping Cat
My bookcases finally arrived at the shop and we went to pick them up. We were a bit suspicious when the guy gave us the packets - the bookcases were supposed to be 168cm tall and there was no way that any of the packets we were given was anywhere near that long. However, he assured that we'd got everything we'd need.
And I thought "Well, I've never had a problem with buying furniture before....*"
And so we carted everything home and carried it up into my study. We got the tools, I cracked open the packets and found the instructions.
Well, would you look at that - we definitely need those long side panels. Those long side panels that aren't here.
And so we phoned them up. "Ups!" they said. Those bookcases always come with the long side panels.
And so we headed back over the Rhein to pick up the package that we definitely didn't need but actually did.
It doesn't sound like much - it's only half an hour in the car - BUT, we had to drive past the Nescafé factory to get there. Trust me, if you drink Nescafé, you would stop immediately if you could smell what that factory smells like. It does not smell of coffee. It's more like the largest collection of nappies wth first poos in them. It stinks is what I'm trying to say.
Anyway, we got to Möbelum, were met by a very apologetic Manager who gave us a 25 Euro voucher and our side panels.
Then we drove back through the Great Stink and started to build.
I have to say it was one of the most painless builds we've had. Mainly because of Munni-The-Helping-Cat. But we three are quite a good team. 45 minutes later and we had the first one built. It's oiled beech and I think it looks pretty good.
*Except everything from Otto.de - since New Year, they've started sending me e-mails again. Despite me unsubscribing from their news letter. Apparently they think I should buy another desk from them...
