A regular "event" ...

... on a well-known site which "The Man" regularly ridicules & despises is people who are, relatively, young putting up a photo and saying "Do you remember what this is/was used for, etc."
They tend to shoot relatively common items like a Tin-opener which can still be bought locally, a floor-level dip-switch, a corned beef tin "key", etc.
I couldn't resist it, I seldom can - this is the item I put up.
Only about 2 recognised it and it took "Ajay Kumar" to label it:-
"... correctly called a 'Diamond tipped, glass-cutting, Pencil'...." he said.
Any better/more accurate name? I doubt it. We just knew it as Grandfather's glass-cutter.
