The Slide Show

First stop, was the Photographers Gallery. On the top floor was a really good exhibition by Sam Leiter; then on the way down to the second floor which had a collection of photos on the Easter 1916 Rising, we dropped in to see slides by Rosangela Renno of Rio and Montevideo. It reminded me of my childhood- sat around the living room while our father showed the holiday slides with a projector. Then it was off to the Frank Auerbach exhibition at the Tate Britain. A true workaholic, he apparently works all day, never goes on holiday, is rarely satisfied with his efforts and usually starts again or scrapes layers off or puts more layers on. Now in his 80's he is still at it. Finally, we went to the National Theatre for an excellent production of As You Like It. The transformation of a totalitarian office into a forest was truly memorable.
