A new great-granddaughter

Today is S' mother's 96th birthday. She has bounced back sufficiently from her four admissions to hospital over a couple of weeks in January and early February, that family were able to visit her this afternoon to celebrate. Including her first meeting with the latest addition to the family.

Her grandson (the proud father in the background here) has recently become a first time father, and today he and his partner brought young Casey from Whangarei; the longest trip she has taken in her not quite 8 weeks of life. A much desired child, she was welcomed with love as she met for the first time with her great grandmother.

This morning saw another great dawn sky. I went down the steps to 'Our Beach' where I got today's extra. Unfortunately, I have had to spend most of the day reading agenda papers, with short breaks to greet S' cousins from near and far, and to attend the cake ceremony. S provided a reprise of the first birthday cake she ever made; for her mother when she was young.
