Life's Little Moments

...Look, Debbi, no hands!!

Mimsy was feeling a bit embarrassed by her recent peanut gluttony, so she requested that fruit be added to her buffet. By the way, this is a satellite operation of the Clothesline Buffet - kind of like a food truck - located in the garden next to the hose. I have to thank Berelaxed for telling me that chippies love fruit, and for turning me on to t a great book about chippies! Today I added some fresh cherries, apple slices and mulch to the buffet. Okay, I didn't really add mulch - just wanted to see if you were paying attention! However, Mimsy did pack up a cheekfull of mulch and take it into her den. Would I be optimistic in thinking that she may be getting ready for a summer brood?

And speaking of summer broods ... I got several glimpses of the red-bellied woodpecker fledglings AND the blue jay young 'uns today! The RBW kids are very shy and like to hide in the trees while mom or dad ferries bits of suet to them. The two times I've seen one of them on the deck, they were gone before I could raise Big Daddy. But, I did get a cool shot of one of the kids on a nearby tree with his tongue FULLY extended! Exciting shot and very nearly became today's blip - however, it had to be fiddled with quite a bit (lightened and cropped like crazy) so the quality isn't great. The young blue jays came around to visit the suet and grab some peanuts, escorted by mom and dad. They are incredibly awkward and skittish - very funny to watch. I posted a handful of pictures on my Flickr page - woodpecker, blue jays and more of Mimsy - if you'd care to have a look.

I'm off to Parsippany today to do a presentation, so thought I'd blip early. Murphy's law would suggest that by doing so, I'll guarantee a fabulous sighting later today... If so, I'll put a few more shots on Flickr.

Hoping you are all having a fruitful Hump Day! (Like Mimsy!)

By the way, she shows well in Svelt Large
