Historic House

I grew up in this general area, and so I've driven past this cute little house many times over the years. It was the home of one of the early settlers to the area and was built right alongside the Milwaukee River, which runs behind the house. For many years it stood empty and decaying until the preservation society purchased it and restored it.  It sits on Main Street in Thiensville, a tiny village that's only about 1 mile in size & is completely surrounded now by another city. The village itself was named after one of the original settlers to the area who came from Germany in 1842. His name was John Henry Thein.
It's a very quaint, quiet area & was voted by CNN's Money Magazine as #19 of the 100 best small cities in the U.S.  I'd have to say they made a great choice on that vote, as it was/is a great area to grow up in!!   :))
