THE IMPOSSIBLE NUTTER HARP GUITAR...

...is nearly finished - after a week's holiday in the Vosges CC has returned with batteries topped up & has put quite a bit of energy into this weirdness which was ordered by some French musician with very precise requirements...

As you can see, the fingerboard has "fan" frets which are broader on the bass side than the treble side. OK - fine - then there are quarter tone frets in arbitrary places - oh dear... It gets worse!

It's to be tuned in DADGAD

On the left, if you look carefully you'll see 12 sympathetic strings which go over a "sitar type" bridge causing them to sing with a nasal buzz when they pick up familiar vibrations from the fingerboard...

There are another 6 sympathetic strings to be installed without the sitar effect.

In between there are 4 bass strings + the 7th string on the neck is a super bass - D, an octave below the bottom DADGAD D!

Does this make any sense? Certainly not to me - I've tried to describe madness only to embrace madness myself. Pfffff
