Roman East Gate

This is the North tower of the Roman East Gate. When I see things like this it always amazes me to think how long ago it was put here (3rd century AD) and to wonder about the lives and personalities of the people involved in its construction.

It's in the car park of the Lincoln Hotel. Apparently if you ask them at reception they will let you go out the back and look at part of the road North which still remains there.

It has rained a lot today! But I've been out walking for ages to get my Fitbit steps up. It is good but it takes so very long to walk 10000 steps a day, especially if you combine it with other errands and have to keep stopping at places!
