The Blue Cross

There was an interesting talk this evening on the history of the Blue Cross animal charity at the local WI.   I had not really heard of them before and it was really interesting to learn how the started in the late 1800s to provide welfare for the working horses on the streets of London , they worked in WW1 at the front looking after the horses  and in these days there is still a problem with horses being abandoned and left in fields not looked after. They care for all other animals too,  provide free vet service and rehoming service.  The speaker was very animated!
