Not Leaves

Look carefully. Enlarge it if you can. Although this looks remarkably like yesterday's photo, it is very different. These are not leaves, but butterflies. Monarchs roosting in eucalyptus and fir, seen just before the sun hits and they wake up and flutter all over the place. Big loud crows were harassing the butterflies, dive bombing into their resting places and making a huge racket. When the sun suddenly came through the clouds, everything changed. The birds left and the insects began their day. See Extra for an idea of how they clump and mimic leaves when they are resting.
