Animals In War, Park Lane, London

It was  beautifully sunny, if very cold, in London this morning so I decided to walk from Victoria through Hyde Park to work.Today's shot is of the Animals In War Memorial designed by David Backhouse which sits on a traffic island in the middle of Park Lane. I think it is such a dignified, well thought out public sculpture and the strong sunshine created this wonderful shadow above the poppy wreaths.
The extra shot I've included today is a more austere shadow image - it felt like it could have been taken in East Germany in the late Seventies/early Eighties - maybe I've been watching too much Deutschland '83!
