Daffodils and Rosemary

A big bouquet from our garden to the Fabulous Four for all their energy and hard work saving Blipfoto and all those who donated and bought shares so that we can continue.

The daffodils and rosemary grow together outside and I like the colors together, so I brought some rosemary inside to go with the daffodils that I rescued from their face down position in the dirt after 24 hours of rain. Seems most appropriate….

A Dutch friend  who used to work with OilMan in Houston has now moved back to the Netherlands and  is what another Dutch friend would call a 'Flying Dutchman'…a lively and engaging fellow. He called yesterday, having managed to track us down through  oil network contacts and came to visit today.

Over delicious Thai food it was certainly interesting to get the European view of our insane  candidates for president and why they appear to be doing so well. The sanctimonious, hypocritical, dishonest, angry and downright paranoid nature of the endless Republican presidential campaign would be fascinating and possibly even amusing if there weren't so much at stake….

I didn't always agree with Justice Scalia's decisions, but I just wish he could have been buried before the started wrangling started over whether  President Obama would be allowed to appoint a successor. I believe it is the president's constitutional right to do so. If only the partisan wrangling would stop and some effort at civilized  political discourse could take place. What kind of role models are these people for our grandchildren? Mine already behave better than some of  these people.

End of rant. We will have a reprieve from all the news as our satellite TV is not getting a signal. After trying to explain the problem to a robot, OilMan  finally pleaded to talk with 'a real person".  He ultimately spent an hour on the phone with somebody in Alabama, trying to make sense of all the mysterious boxes with blinking lights and  hundreds of cables and cords. She decided she would send a new power cord and he decided that the power cord was hardly the problem. He finally convinced her to send a 'real technician" on Monday.

We also had a lively discussion with Rob about big business, but that will remain a rant for another day….
