Runrig set list, Portsmouth Guildhall

Could only be one blip today. A Runrig related item of some sort. Had posters, merchandise and tickets lined up but at the end of the show I spotted a set list still taped onto the stage. I politely asked one of the crew if I could have it and was fortunately given the sheet.

We've followed Runrig since 1997, seeing them many times including at Edinburgh Castle. They've been together for 43 years and have just released "The Story" which they say is their last studio album.

They're not a group that hits the national music scene but have a following as loyal as any band. And in a way I'm glad they've not "made it" in this way as the intimacy and sense of family and belonging may be lost if they were.

The concert was indeed all we expected, a great mixture of old and new songs that were superb and touched heart and soul. They may be Scottish and sing of the Hebrides and the Islands and Highlands and sometimes in Gaelic but the lyrics are universal and speak to anyone who loves the place where they live or where they come from.

If you're a Riggie, you'll understand. If not, listen to their music and you'll soon become a Riggie. Start with this set list and you'll not go far wrong.
